Playing Propaganda?

There is a dangerous game being played in Jamaica’s political arena and it’s one that threatens to undo years of hard-won progress. It’s the game of propaganda, the People’s National Party (PNP) has mastered it. Unable to present any clear, coherent plan for the country’s future, the PNP has defaulted to its oldest and most destructive tactic, flood the nation with lies, discredit every achievement of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP), and distort reality until the truth no longer matters. Their goal is simple  control the narrative, and you control the minds of the people. Control the minds, and you control how they vote. This is manipulation and if Jamaicans aren’t vigilant, propaganda could topple a government that has, against great odds, delivered measurable growth and stability. Under the JLP, Jamaica has experienced consistent economic growth, massive infrastructure development, and the lowest unemployment rates in decades. We have seen improvements in housing, education, and...

The PNP’s “Blood & Fire”Narrative Is a Backward Step

Something dangerous is bubbling beneath the surface of Jamaican politics, and the country can no longer afford to ignore it. Mark Golding, the leader of the People’s National Party (PNP), once told his supporters it was time to “get wicked pon dem,” warning that “Labourite nah give up dis ting easy” and that anyone who thought victory would come easy was “fooling themselves.” These words weren’t a slip of the tongue they reflect a mindset. Recently, two PNP candidates have made troubling remarks on the campaign trail. In Hanover, one warned that those who switch parties “a guh inna ditch,” while in St Elizabeth South Western, Miranda Wellington declared, “We prepared for war… and if a war, a war.”That’s not political banter  that’s dangerous talk. Language like that, left unchecked, can spark conflict and turn tension into something much worse. Jamaica has buried too many sons and daughters because of words like these. We have been here before, the 1970s and 1980s were soaked ...

Holness Shows Strength, Golding Shows Absence.

There’s leadership and then there’s presence.Jamaicans know the difference, because we’ve seen it in Andrew Holness.Whether it’s a national celebration, a community outreach, or a symbolic launch, the Prime Minister shows up. Andrew Holness isn’t afraid to be on the ground. He’s present at national events, official functions, community gatherings, and symbolic ceremonies. He interacts with the people from elders to young children with warmth and sincerity. Whether he’s shaking hands, taking photos, sharing a laugh, or simply listening, he makes his presence felt. He speaks directly to the people, moves through crowds with ease, and lifts spirits wherever he goes. Always present, always leading from the front, the man genuinely loves the people and shows it. And perhaps the clearest example of that leadership was during the COVID-19 pandemic. When fear gripped the globe and uncertainty was high, Andrew Holness did not shy away,he didn’t disappear behind closed doors or delegate awa...

You Can’t Fix Decades of Neglect in Nine Years

It’s time for Jamaicans to get honest about where many of our problems began and who should truly be held accountable. Too often, we hear the dangerous refrain that “both parties are the same,” as if history and track records don’t matter. But take a look at some of the most neglected communities across the island underdeveloped and crying out for help and ask yourself: Who represented them for decades? More often than not, it was the People’s National Party (PNP). A striking example played out just last week when the Prime Minister visited the St. Catherine North Western constituency, currently represented by Hugh Graham of the PNP. A woman, proudly clad in the party's signature orange, told the Prime Minister she had been living in Sterling Castle for 14 years without water. Her frustration is understandable but misdirected. What she may have not known is that before Graham, the seat was held for 31 years by another PNP MP, Robert Pickersgill, who also served as  minister of wate...

Jamaica,Stay Alert. The Soul of Our Nation Is at Stake.

Something dangerous is unfolding in our beloved island. Beneath the noise of party colours and political theatrics lies a troubling truth a calculated effort to destabilize Jamaica. This is no ordinary election cycle it’s a national crossroads and every Jamaican must choose, defend the progress we have made or sit back while agents of chaos drag us back into regression.  We have seen  this script before political unrest, veiled threats, and tribalism disguised as activism. The PNP’s recent actions go beyond politics  they are not campaigning for leadership, they are inciting disruption. From stirring chaos in the streets to reviving tactics reminiscent of the 70s, their approach reeks of desperation. Confusion, fear, and disorder have become their tools in a dangerous bid for power, showing a blatant disregard for the peace and stability our country has worked so hard to achieve. Take the protest over Dennis Chung’s appointment. Heroes Circle was flooded with PNP supporter...

The PNP Deserves Another Term in Opposition

As Jamaica approaches another general election, some are calling for a change in government, claiming the People’s National Party (PNP) deserves another chance. But political power is not a reward for nostalgia or party loyalty it is a responsibility that must be earned. And the PNP has done nothing to prove they are ready for it. For nearly a decade in opposition, the People’s National Party (PNP) has remained stagnant failing to grow, modernize, or offer a compelling and credible alternative to governance. In an era that demands bold, relatable, and decisive leadership, the party continues to fall short, weighed down by weak public perception and a lack of charisma. The current leader, in particular, has failed to ignite confidence among the electorate. He lacks the clarity, conviction, and national presence expected of someone seeking to lead Jamaica. In fact, his repeated absence from major national events raises serious questions about his patriotism and commitment to the co...
